Exchange deploy issue: Site error message"Cannot connect to the configuration database" and Remote Desktop Connection "Login attempt error"
While setting up Exchange Server 2010 on Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise [which has SQL Server 2008 R2 Enterprise (upgrade from SQLExpress 2008) and SharePoint Server 2010 Enterprise for Partners (an upgrade from Foundation 2010) installed already], in setting the Deployment Configuation I selected Create New Domain in New Forest and now I get this message when trying to access eeecoop.com: "Cannot connect to the configuration database" and also the Remote Desktop Connection now gives me a "Login attempt error" everytime I try. I think the problem is that I set the "New Domain for New Forest" to corp.eeecoop.com and I should have selected instead gone for "Add domain controller to existing domain". I'm not sure what to do next. Please help. tnx

OMG...you got 3 servers on one hardware ;) Anyways...could explain your environment, like DC and GC, any existing exchanger server etc. I would suggest to start it over with Deployment Configuration Tool and this time select the existing domain, as you had selected the new Domain and Forest, which is not the right way, when you are having the existing Domain and Forest.Gulab | MCTS-MCITP Messaging: 2010 | MCTS-MCITP Messaging: 2007 | MCC 2011 | Skype: Gulab.Mallah

Thanks for the reply Gulab. So, it would have been best if I setup each server on a separate virtual server using Hyper V? Also, when I select existing domain should then setup a new subdomain or just using the same existing domain (i.e. eeecoop.com verse exchange.eeecoop.com) Problem is I can't get into the server via RDC. Is there any way round this, i.e. to get into the server not via RDC or directly? Thanks for the help

It all depends on your requirement, if you want to setup your exchange in existing domain or what to create a child domain. Make sure that RDP is enabled on the server to which you are trying to connect. Gulab | MCTS-MCITP Messaging: 2010 | MCTS-MCITP Messaging: 2007 | MCC 2011 | Skype: Gulab.Mallah

Hi 1. You can’t get into RDC. Allow log on through Terminal Services This user right is by default granted to Administrators and members of the local Remote Desktop Users group on the server. Permission to use the rdp-tcp connection The local Remote Desktop Users group has by default "User access" permission on the rdp-tcp connection. Allow logon to Terminal Server checkbox, in the properties of the user account in AD.By default, this checkbox is checked for all users. You don’t tell me the os of your client. You can read this article. It lists all the error information and relevant KB. 2. Is there any way round this, i.e. to get into the server not via RDC or directly? Many 3 rd software can do this. Like VNC,teamviewer… 3. I just search information “Cannot connect to the configuration database” It is error about share point server,or IIS wrong mode.
